WINE TOURS
We host small exclusive wine tours for parties to top quality vineyards and cellars – some of which are not open to the general public. This offers an unique insight into some of the top estates in the world.
On past tours, we have visited Bordeaux: tasting at Chateaux Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, Pichon Baron, Leoville Barton, La Conseillante and d’Yquem – with wonderful lunches at Chateau Pichon Baron, La Tour Figeac and La Garde – and a grand finale dinner and stay at Chateau Lascombes.
In 2006 we had a superb tour to South Africa, staying in a deluxe 4-star hotel in Cape Town, enjoying an amazing traditional brai cooked by Cape’s top chef Reuben at Boekenhoutskloof winery during a leisurely 5-day wine tour visiting the vineyards of Constantia, Franschhoek, Hermanus and Stellenbosch.
In early 2008, we hosted our first South American adventure to the vineyards of Chile & Argentina. Our fun relaxed ten day tour included visits to coastal San Antonio and Casablanca and southerly Maipo and Rapel in Chile. Crossing the Andes, we visited Argentina’s great wine region, Mendoza. Our tour ended with a lively night on the town & spectacular tango show in Buenos Aires.
FORTHCOMING WINE TOURS IN 2008 & 2009:
Burgundy: 8-13 June 2008 (fully booked)
We will be staying in the heart of Beaune – visiting top producers in Cote de Beaune, Cote de Nuits, Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais.
New Zealand: 25 January – 6 February 2009 (available for booking – please ask for details)
A fun, once-in-a-lifetime trip to this truly spectacular wine country. This exciting 12 day wine adventure begins in Auckland with a day trip to Waiheke Island. We then head south via the famous sulphur springs of Rotorua to stay overnight on the shores of New Zealand’s largest lake, Lake Taupo. We will explore the Hawkes Bay region near Napier and Martinborough region in North Island with plenty of wine tastings and vineyard lunches en route – before heading to Wellington for a spare day to explore this cosmopolitan city. Crossing to South Island through the picturesque Marlborough Sounds, we stay in the heart of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, visiting leading wineries like Cloudy Bay. We head further south on the Coastal Pacific Train to Christchurch. Our tour finally ends in Queenstown, visiting the world’s most dramatic wine region, Central Otago. Get some winter sun, discover exciting new Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay – and experience this beautiful wine country at first hand!
Champagne: May 2009 (details will be available soon – please ask)
Our most popular wine tour destination! We will stay in a luxurious small quiet hotel in Reims and visit famous Champagne houses including Bollinger, Krug, Charles Hiedsieck, Louis Roederer and Pol Roger - as well as small growers like Vilmart.
PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE PUT ONTO OUR WINE TOUR MAILING LIST.
CHARITY TASTINGS
COMIC RELIEF WINE TASTING 2007
Our guest of honour was Jancis Robinson MW and her husband Nick Lander, founders of Wine Relief. A big thank you to all those who attended our huge charity wine tasting in 2007. 28 exhibitors (all the supermarkets cheek-by-jowl, independent merchants and high street retailers) and 400+ consumers raised over £6000 for Comic Relief in one night – with further 10% from wine sales to Red Nose Day. It was a fun night with activities at our event including Chocolate & Wine Challenge & Tasting Competitions with Wines of Portugal & Wines of Chile. The raffle raised nearly £2000 with the star prize donated by Inverlochy Castle Hotel.
Next Wine Relief tasting will be in March 2009. |
